Comparing a band’s sound to the Beatles isn’t normally construed as a slam, but, then again, normalcy’s never been Pavement’s forte.| Not that Pavement routinely get confused with the Fab.

Aug 07,  · BIG Pavement fan from back in the day, and this album was a huge disappointment. I listened to it a few times and never played it again. Too many weak mid-tempo songs.

Feb 07,  · I found this while digging and snatched it up thinking it was an original. Well it wasn’t and it doesn’t really matter because I didn’t pay a lot and this sounds really, really good/5().

      * Items below may differ depending on the release. Review For ten years, Pavement's Stephen Malkmus has been rock & roll's greatest expressionist, his work marked by an emotional clarity all the more impressive for the way it stays doggedly fuzzy around the edges.

I was disappointed when it was new - the performances seemed over-rehearsed, slightly robotic, and recessive, with a tad more focus on malkmus than necessary - but the songs are at least as good as those of any of their other albums, and the more accurate performances and /5(95).

Apr 30,  · The final Pavement album, the end of an era -- and this is the most inconsistent thing they ever did. In retrospect, after years of listening to this band and trying to understand why they quit when they did (having been too young at the time and being unaware of their existence did not help), it finally seems to me that this album is the key/5(96).
